Kellogg Deck

ABOUT

THE DECK

Kellogg is a deck based on

Cyberpunk 2077, with every

legendary card having an

in-game equivalent character

or location.

I chose Kellogg to lead the

deck because of his creature

types (Human Mercenary).

His treasure synergies provide pretty

quick and reliable mana for being in Rakdos,

and his theft ability is netrunner-esque.

The goal of the deck is to get a bunch of treasure (and value pieces) by swinging for commander damage, with some cool sneaky wins thrown in as a backup plan.

WINCONS

The Reaver

Tarrian’s

SOULCLEAVER

CLEAVER

+

(Monowire)

(Mantis Blades)

The deck has a couple ways to win, but the primary way is commander damage. Tarrian’s Soulcleaver and The Reaver Cleaver feel like they were made to go together. One makes treasures based on damage, and the other buffs power when you use treasures. These two cards make Kellogg a lethal commander-damage threat within a couple turns, let alone if you already stockpiled treasures.

Super

STATE

Partner these cards with Super State and suddenly Kellogg is dealing lethal commander damage to each opponent at once! Although the card is high CMC and adds gives Kellogg three abilities that he already has (with Reaver Cleaver Equipped), the damage to each opponent is just too good to pass up on. Plus mana is rarely an issue in this deck.

HOARDING

TREASURES

When playing the deck, you’ll want to keep a stockpile of treasures for quick mana, but sometimes it can be a wincon too.

Revel in Riches wins us the game on upkeep if we have 10 or more treasures. There’s one more card with a similar effect in the deck, you can find it in the references section.

Marionette Master also puts your stockpile of treasures to use, by becoming a huge source of damage when you sacrifice them.

Partner this card with Marionette Apprentice, Descent into Avernus, or even Tarrian’s Soulcleaver and you’re dealing major damage just for using treasures!

REFERENCES

As mentioned, Kellogg plays the role of V

FUMIKO

Johnny

Silverhand

The Lowblood

Fumiko the Lowblood, plays the role of ‘rocker boy’ Johnny Silverhand, as he was years before his death. This card doesn’t provide much to the deck unless an opponent is going-wide, but the Samurai creature type fits perfectly. Plus having Bushido is the cherry on top for rocker era Johnny, because of the Bushido movies.

DEADPOOL

Johnny

Silverhand

Trading Card

Deadpool, Trading Card is an

amazing inclusion in the

deck, as he represents the

construct incarnation of

Johnny Silverhand. His

creature typing of Mercenary

Hero matches Johnny, although

he’s more of a Construct than

a Mutant. The swapping of

text boxes parodies the relic

taking V over, with the

damage on upkeep being V

slowly dying. And finally,

the sacrifice ability is V choosing to pull the relic out / give Johnny full control.

Evereth

David

Martinez

Viceroy of Plunder

Evereth, Viceroy of Plunder is David Martinez. The flying keyword is supposed to mimic the Sandevistan. Sacrificing treasures for buffs and temporary lifelink is similar to David getting cyberware upgrades and immunoblockers.

And Evereth’s last ability ensures that they leave their mark and die as a Night City Legend.

Braids

Song

So Mi

Arisen Nightmare

Braids, Arisen Nightmare represents So Mi from Phantom Liberty. Spoilers for the end of the DLC, but the artwork is reminiscent of So Mi being corrupted by the Blackwall.

Along with the artwork, the ability follows the corruption theme, while acting as a crucial piece of card draw.

Mjölnir

Sandevistan

Storm Hammer

Mjölnir, Storm Hammer is the infamous Sandevistan. Stunning creatures and punishing opponents are what give Mjölnir that Sandevistan feeling.

Although Mjölnir isn’t a terribly strong equipment, the flavour makes it a must-include in my deck over some of the other options I was considering.

Special

Inclusions

Shadow

Knuckles

The Hedgehog

The Echidna

Shadow The Hedgehog is portraying Johnny Silverhand (yes a third one) as he was during the raid on Arasaka tower. His death trigger ability is like a parting shot from Johnny. Chaos Control adds an extra layer of treasure support and protection.

Knuckles the Echidna is portraying Solomon Reed, from Phantom Liberty. Do you see the pattern yet…? I’ll admit, the card has little to do with the Solomon, although the extra treasures on combat damage help a ton!

The real connection between these cards and the characters is their voice actors. Keanu Reeves plays Johnny Silverhand and voices Shadow, and Idris Elba plays Solomon Reed and voices Knuckles.
